Just what the doctor ordered - I already own two timbuk2 bags so I am prejudiced. In fact, I thought it would be decadent to have a third. But it turns out there is a timbuk2 bag for every season, and for every occasion. I put away my brightly colored summer totes (for travel and the beach) and adopted this more subdued but still nifty tri-color purple messenger -- it's just the right size for me (a smallish woman) so there's not too much shoulder strain. It's hard to buy a bag by looking at a picture, but I really love this bag. It is just the right size for me not overwhelming, but holds the usual-wallet, phone, credit cards. I have the blue bag but it is more like a blue violet. With the brown stitching, it goes with just about everything. The bag is heavier than my last bag, but it doesn't bother me. I think the metal rings add the weight.

I was looking for a nice bag with some pockets that's big enough to hold a book. I've had a couple of Kavu bags before, and I liked the look of this one. But once I got it, didn't like it at all. 1) Material is very rough and scratchy. It irritated the skin on my shoulder even through a t-shirt. 2) Not really big enough for a book, too narrow. I could get one in there, but had to fight to do it, and then couldn't get to anything else. It does look nice though. I got compliments on it. But it doesn't work for me. I ended up getting Dakine's Ava bag, which is nearly perfect.

I ride the train and then walk about a mile to work. The bag I was using was not waterproof but was made of nylon and lightweight. When I look for a bag, I want it to be light because I know how much stuff I'm going to be putting into it. The strap is good and I wear it across my body. It is waterproof and very sturdy. The velcro is very loud but secure and in addition to the velcro, there are clips to hold the flap down. This bag is working well for me. The only thing I miss, is an outside pocket for my cell phone.
